Minutes of Board Meeting

Attendees: 

Board Members—Henry Sink, Dick Fisher, Dave Turnage, Al Spinks, Charlie LeGrand, Phil Mann, Doug Wilson.

 

Absent:

Board Members—Avery Wagoner, Don Chaplin.

 

President’s Report:

Nothing new to report

 

Secretary’s  Report: 

The minutes of the last meeting were approved.

 

District Assembly, May 12

It was moved, 2nd, and passed that the club pay expenses for attendees to the May 12 District Assembly in Jamestown, NC. [Phil Mann and Bebe Mitchell attended the assembly]

 

Request for contribution to Special Olympics:

Club member Henry Johnson has requested, thru President Henry, that the club contribute $100 toward the Special Olympics.  It was moved, 2nd, passed that the club would do so.

 

New member induction:

Nate Snelling has been approved as a new member and will be inducted as soon as possible.  [Nate was inducted at the regular club meeting, May 5, 2006.]

 

100% Paul Harris Fellow:

Board members agreed that 100% Paul Harris Fellow was a worthy and realizable goal for our club.  President Henry Sink will contact Derick Granhan, of the Asheboro club, and in charge of our district PHF program, to meet with the board at our next meeting.  Erick’s phone is 336-626-4325.

 

Perfect Attendance Award:

The club has three members eligible for perfect attendance awards.  [These awards were made over the following weeks to Dick Fisher, 6 yrs; Dave Turnage, 6 yrs; and Jim Stiles, 3yrs.]

 

Club  Bulletin:

A monthly club bulletin is being produced by Bebe Mitchell and will be placed on the club website each month.  Hard copies are available upon request.  Suggested items that can go on our bulletin:  monthly % attendance, speakers, and list members who had perfect attendance for the previous month.

 

Speaker’s Pens:

Phil Mann ordered and has obtained pens with our club’s name/address.  These will be given as recognition and thanks to each of our club speakers.

 

Next year:

 

RIF: Mark Podolle and Doug Wilson will take over responsibility for Reading is Fundamental.

 

Reading for Blind: Dave Turnage needs someone to take over responsibility for coordinating the club’s part in Reading for Blind.

 

 

Next board meeting will be held Thurs. May 25, 2006.
